Chinese Cultural Revolution Photos
In the photo they are destroying the a statue of a Buddha because it is considered a 4 old. They did s lot in the book to to they destroyed the signs of stores who were considered not to be communist. Mao I think wanted to be sort of a God. He wanted to be the only power and admired by people. He was really mean I could not think there could be such a bad person living brainwashing the youth poisoning the brain of the future. In the book the kids in elementary school they wanted to be Red Guards. They wanted to destroy the culture their parents and grandparents have lived with. Why would they destroy the Buddha it has to do with religion I don't think religion has to do anything with government.

GPA College Blog 2
My GPA was 2.30. I am very disappointed in myself because I know I can do better than this. I did better last semester I had a 3.55 which was closer to my goal of getting a 4.0, now I am really far away. I am not happy with myself at all I am very disappointed and I feel like my time to raise my grades is going by so fast. I need to raise my grades I need to put more effort into what I am doing and stop getting distracted. I don't want to go to summer school. I was not that surprised because I knew I was not doing so well. I've been distracted and I have to stop I need to concentrate on what I am doing.
To get into a UCSD which is now my first choice I have to have a 3.0 or higher. I am not really that close to that GPA requirement. I really need to work hard to get my GPA up to get in to the school I want. I still want to go to Harvard Medical School but I will like to go to a regualar college and after getting a degree go study there but I know I will have to work extremely hard to make it to that school. I would also like to go to UAG which is a university in mexico which is a private university in Mexico I don't really know the GPA requirement. I would also like to go study abroad maybe a school in Europe preferably Spain I don't really know the requirements for the school's in Europe.
I think my next step is to try harder and get my work done on time I also think that I would have to stay after school to make this happen especially when we are working on essays because it is not my strongest subject. I also will study a little bit each night when a test is on Friday because I don't come prepared sometimes. I think all I have to do is work harder to succeed.

Internship Talks
The 11th graders did a pretty good job explaining their internships to a large audience. There were a few things that struck me about internship. One of them is that some of them waited till the last minute to get their internship some ended up not liking the one they got. I liked their advice to start early. What I am looking for in internship is for me to have some freedom. Have a mentor actually have time for me. I also want to have hands on and shadow a nurse. I want to see if I fit to be in the medical field. The Vignette that made me like I was there was the first one. It was like if I was like right there watching her she was really descriptive. I actually felt what she felt it was cool. I like it because I actually pictured the scenery I did not really feel it with the other presentations they were good but they did not grab my attention that much. I can’t wait till internship.

Sheir Hammad & Marjane Satrapi on War Part 2
I think that her poetry she is telling the people that there is a cultural revolution going on. They blame all Muslim and Arabs for being terrorist. She is saying that her brothers are in the navy and they are protecting the U.S. but because they are Arabs and Muslim they blame them. The U.S. citizens are making a whole race suffer because of some people decided they wanted to hurt our nation. We are bullying them for something not all of them were part of. Suheir Hammad is trying to make people see what is really going on with her beautiful and powerful words. They are also asking her if she knew the high-jacker's and what nay her brother was in just because she is one race or religion and they must know the people who are doing this evil. People just look for someone to blame.
She describes war with the truth it so horrible the children are the ones the suffer so much as well as people in poverty. She is describing how Arabs must be feeling fighting their own people. How hard it must be that people you were friends with blame you for something you had nothing to do with. It does not make since to me how her powerful, sad but beautiful words are so true we just want to say it was the whole country's fault but it was not them it was a few of their people who were lead through a bad path. How the soldiers must have felt being between their 2 homeland and killing innocent people that had nothing to do with this. The ones that were most affected were women in poverty because their children got taken away to fight in the war against America.
In Persepolis people are having a revolution for a democracy they don't want one person in power. They are also having a revolution for women's rights. In Persepolis the revolution is so intense it turns into war. The war was so awful they send Marji to Austria. To have a better future but she was so confused by what was going on and with out her parents their to guide her she was messed up and had a terrible experience their. Revolution confused all the kids because the teachers told them one thing but their family told them something difference.

Suheir Hammad & Marjane Satrapi on War
This is are the key points that caught my attention in the first poem. "I know that beat it is lifeless". "I will kill for you especially i would not die for you"." I will not morn the dead for murder or suicide". "I will not dance to bombs because everyone is dancing everyone can be wrong". "I will not be played". "This heartbeat is louder than death. Your war drum is not louder than this breath" .
This are the key points that caught my attention in the second poem. "Our holy history baned. Who son should it be. We cherise corpse. we mourne women complicated.I think now that I was never pure. Girl spoiled befor rippen. One women shoots her face. One women belives love will never find her. We mourne each one or we mean nothing at all. Harvest bombs. Smoke redemption. Smoke breathe. If you must fear, fear the unexploded".
They both want the war to and they want people to stop suffering. They want to have freedom. They want to be there own person. They stand up for women. The most important thing they have in common they speak what is on their mind.
What struck me about Persepolis is how can they treat their women like that. How could they let them not have their own life. Let them give their own opinions. Let them be part of the government. How could they think men and women are not equal.
The thing that struck about Suheir Hammad's poetry is that she had so much power in her words that you can't describe how true and powerful her poetry is. I love her powerful words. I love this women she expresses her life freely. Speaks her mind. I just love it.

The Role of the Women in Islam
The role of women in Islam is to be a wife have kids and then take care of them. The man is the one that is supposed to maintain you. You have to be loyal to your husband you are stoned to death. The women has to cook, clean and do everything her husband ask her. Women file for divorce sometimes but both partners have to agree.

I noticed that I can transfer a lot of techniques to my project. I can sketch and then stencil. I don't have to be the best drawer I could do like the MBW and photoshop it. I also could be more creative and send my message more clearly. What amazed me was that they had amazing talent they started small and their art kept getting better. They had a lot of work to do to get to were they are right now. The only one that did not start small is MBW and his art to me was not that good as the other ones. He just copied pictures and edited on photoshop. They wanted to send a clear message to the people that saw their art. I think that most of the artist message were peace. They had their original message they wanted to express

"The Metamorphosis" Chapter 3
I think the authour by writing in the story that gregor turned into a bug was trying to explain that his dreams had meanings and the reason he is a bug because that is how Gregor felt in real life. He felt used by his own family. He felt scared to stand up to his boss. The only reason he kept working there was to pay off his dad's debt and when he was a bug he found out that his dad had enough money to pay off the debt. The dad never told him and he felt used in so many ways. He wanted to send the sister away to study music and after he turned into a bug they were supportive at the beginig and then they turned on him and started ignoring him and let him to die.
I think the author chose a bug because that is how he thouoght the caracter felt and he was kind of crazy. He might of related him self to the caracter. The authour had a lot of tragedy and his sories were never fairy tales the worst thing you can transform to is a bug and it is a tragedy.

Harrison Bergeron Political Cartoon
This is my drawing for the Harrison Bergeron story. The government is taking control of people's lives. The people are not happy, they feel sad because they have no freedom at all. In this picture I am trying to tell you that the government has power over everyone and they control everybody. The government is winding people up and that is how they control them. It is similar to what happened in the story Diana treated everybody unfairly. The people had to be average and nobody could out do anybody or they would be killed.

"The Metamorphosis" Chapter 2
Before he became a insect he had support from his family. They all have respect each other while he is human. They love each other very much. Except the dad because when Gregor turns into a bug the dad wants to kill him. They hurt each other a lot after Gregor turns into a monstrous bug. The dad stops loving, respecting, caring, for his own son Gregor. The mom does not mean to hurt Gregor but she is not used to seeing Gregor like that so she faints and Gregor does not like seeing his mom like that. The sister stays supportive all the the time.
1. Caring
2. Being there in the good and bad times
3. Love
4. Respect
5. Supporting
I give the Samsa family a C cause they did all the rules except one which is Being there in the good and the bad times. The dad wants to kill Gregor and that is not loving or caring at all. They don't have respect for each other anymore the only one who has been the most supportive has been the sister this is why I grade them at a C level.
"The Metamorphosis" Chapter 1
I think that he felt dehumanized before he changed into a insect because he had no life it was just work and home no girlfriends no nothing. His boss did not treat him well he already felt like a animal. He was stressed and worried about helping his family out. His family depended on him. He was the one who brought the money he probably felt like a dog.
He felt anxious and having strange nightmares about becoming a bug that when he woke up he though he was dreaming.I guess that he might have been mistreated in many ways for him to feel dehumanized. He needs to go out and have fun but he did not so that is why he felt dehumanized.
