I think that her poetry she is telling the people that there is a cultural revolution going on. They blame all Muslim and Arabs for being terrorist. She is saying that her brothers are in the navy and they are protecting the U.S. but because they are Arabs and Muslim they blame them. The U.S. citizens are making a whole race suffer because of some people decided they wanted to hurt our nation. We are bullying them for something not all of them were part of. Suheir Hammad is trying to make people see what is really going on with her beautiful and powerful words. They are also asking her if she knew the high-jacker's and what nay her brother was in just because she is one race or religion and they must know the people who are doing this evil. People just look for someone to blame.
She describes war with the truth it so horrible the children are the ones the suffer so much as well as people in poverty. She is describing how Arabs must be feeling fighting their own people. How hard it must be that people you were friends with blame you for something you had nothing to do with. It does not make since to me how her powerful, sad but beautiful words are so true we just want to say it was the whole country's fault but it was not them it was a few of their people who were lead through a bad path. How the soldiers must have felt being between their 2 homeland and killing innocent people that had nothing to do with this. The ones that were most affected were women in poverty because their children got taken away to fight in the war against America.
In Persepolis people are having a revolution for a democracy they don't want one person in power. They are also having a revolution for women's rights. In Persepolis the revolution is so intense it turns into war. The war was so awful they send Marji to Austria. To have a better future but she was so confused by what was going on and with out her parents their to guide her she was messed up and had a terrible experience their. Revolution confused all the kids because the teachers told them one thing but their family told them something difference.
